“Oral health — Loss of natural teeth” category
As you soon will see from the health statistics provided below, Georgia ranks as #9 out of 52 U.S. states for missing teeth. This particular statistic pertains only to those over age 65 “who have had all their natural teeth extracted.”
That means 28.2% of Georgia’s 65+ population had their natural teeth extracted.
And if you’re curious, here are the states that rank among the top 10:
-
West Virginia
-
Kentucky
-
Tennessee
-
Alabama
-
Louisiana
-
Oklahoma
-
Mississippi
-
North Carolina
-
Georgia
-
Kansas
It’s no wonder that dental implants and dentures are so popular nowadays.
According to a website by the American College of Prosthodontists (source: http://www.gotoapro.org/news/facts–figures/):
“More than 35 million Americans do not have any teeth, and 178 million people in the U.S. are missing at least one tooth. These numbers are expected to grow in the next two decades.”
Also, according to the American Academy of Implant Dentistry (source: https://www.aaid-implant.org/faqs/what-are-dental-implants/):
“It has been estimated that 69 percent of Americans age 35 to 44 have at least one missing tooth, and one in four over the age of 74 have lost ALL their natural teeth.”
But how do all of these people deal with their missing teeth problems? What are the solutions that many of these patients turn to?
The answer: dental implants and dentures.
