Regardless of whether you identify as a Republican, Democrat, or somewhere in the middle, one thing we can all agree on is that our Armed Forces, the men and women who put their lives on the line for our freedom each and every day, deserve our support.
The question is: how? How can we support our troops who are overseas, as well as their families in the United States?
Donating candy to the troops probably wasn’t on your list for “how to help the troops,” was it? Yet, the things we take for granted each and every day are not available to our troops overseas.
By sending our troops a portion of your children’s Halloween candy, you’re giving the troops one of the “comforts of home” they are missing, and also teaching your children a valuable lesson— helping others.
For each pound of Halloween candy donated, you’ll receive a nice, crisp $1 bill for your efforts (but it’s not really about the money anyway, right?).
So what is Operation Gratitude?
Operation Gratitude is an organization that helps the public say “thank you” to all who serve in the U.S. Military by sending care packages, which contain both needed and wanted items. This gives our troops everything they need and hopefully lifts their spirits in the process.
Operation Gratitude sends over 150,000 individually addressed care packages each and every year to troops overseas, as well as their families back in the states. They are a 501(c)(3) non-profit, volunteer-based organization funded entirely by private donations.
